This paper starts from some recent studies of Koschmann to define a personal and social knowledge building. The most striking claim he raise, in accord with other scholars, is that learning is a social process, and as such it is not always possible to resolve the problematic character of our personal understanding internally. Then we may need to enter into an explicitly social process and create new meanings collaboratively through articulating our initial beliefs in words (or actions) and expressing ourselves in public statements.
