Carlyle and the iraqi debts

Nice shot by Naomi Klein on the interests of the Carlyle group and on the american state ex-secretary James Baker. The special report described the project, elaborated by Carlyle and others, to create a consortium for recovering the money that the ex-regime had developed with other countries, particularly Kuwait. Funny enough, James Baker is a senior member of Carlyle and -at the same time- was asked by George W. Bush to deal with the debts Iraq had with foreign countries.

“Baker is on two sides of this transaction: he is supposed to be representing the interests of the US, but he is also a senior counsellor at Carlyle, and Carlyle wants to get paid to help Kuwait recover its debts from Iraq.”

After this reportage was published on The Nation (USA) Carlyle has announced that is not going to participate by any means in the consortium.
